Description

Our 2018 Women’s Fall Conference will be meeting at the Chateau Saint Denis Hotel (751 2nd St, Natchitoches, LA 71457; Phone 318-951-4105). Opposite the Natchitoches Events Center, this upscale redbrick hotel in the landmark historic district is a 3-minute walk from the shops and restaurants on Front Street along Cane River Lake. Airy, refined rooms offer free Wi-Fi, flat-screens and minifridges. Complimentary hot breakfast is served in a simple dining room. There is also a low-key bar, a lobby lounge with fireplaces, and a furnished courtyard featuring an antique fountain. Other amenities include a 24-hour gym.

On Friday, we will begin with lunch at Mariner’s Restaurant, distinguished casual dining over beautiful Sibley Lake, specializing in Cajun/Creole, fresh seafood, and certified Angus beef. Our first tour will be at Natchitoches Pecans, a family owned and operated Southern pecan orchard where duties are shared in bringing the crop to market, from scouting insects, fertilizing, pruning, and harvesting to minding the store each fall. Our final tour will take place at Melrose Planation, an Antebellum historic house museum located in Natchitoches Parish. The bus will take us along the Cane River Heritage Trail, which is steeped in a history that reveals riches, struggles, slavery, the Civil War and more. Cocktails and dinner are just walking distance from the hotel at Merci Beaucoup Restaurant, which promises an original classic Cajun & American menu, served in a charming atmosphere in Historic Downtown Natchitoches.

Saturday morning we will have a dynamic guest speaker, Jordan Craig, Director, Grassroots Policy Development for the American Farm Bureau. He will be discussing Storytelling and Advocacy within agriculture.

Rates for this conference are $250 (single occupancy) and $225 (double, triple, quadruple occupancy). This fee includes lodging, transportation, tours, and meals. THE REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 14! Registration for this event, and future events, will now be done online. In order to prevent incurring fees, we have listed the event as free. You will notice that single and multiple occupancy costs are listed separately within that section. Therefore, you will not process payment via Eventbrite registration and instead send payment to the State Office just as it has been done in the past.

If you need additional information, please contact Megan Gravois (225.922.6213, megang@lfbf.org). Please extend this invitation to all interested women in your parish. We look forward to seeing old friends and hopefully, making new ones in October!
